The Baby Boomer Era Was A Time Of Both Prosperity And Social Unrest
As a Baby Boomer, I worked hard to achieve the “American Dream,” valuing homeownership, a loving family, and a drive for success. Our era was characterized by major social and cultural shifts after World War II, including a baby boom, rapid technological progress, and the emergence of key social movements like the Civil Rights era and the Vietnam War. Baby Boomers continue to have a major influence on American society. The short video below shares my personal experiences and life journey, which unexpectedly led to me becoming a published book author at 68. I hope you enjoy the instrumental music from the song “Let It Be” – a song about acceptance, peace, and finding comfort in tough times. ENJOY!
In the quiet suburban enclave of San Lorenzo, California, John Edwards embarked on a life path shaped by the cultural, sociological, and spiritual influences of his Baby Boomer era. From his early years in this small Bay Area bedroom community to his current residence in El Dorado County, California, his life has been a mosaic of experiences, choices, and aspirations. His life journey is perfectly encapsulated in his book, “What a Tale My Thoughts Will Tell: Words Not to Be Forgotten.” He chronicles his candid recollections and wistful insights that traverse the highs and lows of his personal odyssey, weaving a gripping memoir that reverberates with the collective human experience.
A twin son of a World War II active-duty military service member who later became a patternmaker for the Alameda Naval Air Station, John had a school career that included St. Joachim’s Catholic School, Arroyo High School, Chabot College, and the prestigious St. Mary’s College of California. He married young at twenty-six and settled in Martinez, California. Growing up, he was fascinated by professional sports, music, and American history, which led to his meetings with notable figures such as Willie Mays, Reggie Jackson, John Brodie, Kenny Stabler, John Madden, Lon Simmons, Bill King, and former Congressional Representatives George Miller, Pete Stark, and Vic Fazio. Before becoming a writer and author, John Edwards had a long and distinguished career in business management at two of the most prominent organizations in their industry: United Parcel Service and Enterprise Holdings, Inc.
One of my favorite “Baby Boomer” Music Videos
Celebrating my Baby Boomer generation is indispensable because of our influence on society, particularly through our cultural impacts on politics, fashion, civil rights, and music. Music from the 1960s is often praised as the best due to its revolutionary sounds, the rise of new genres, and its reflection of the social and cultural shifts of the Baby Boomer era. Therefore, I want to share a “fun video,” one of my favorites! It depicts a place and moment in time, as well as an activity I enjoyed with my friends during high school. ENJOY!”
